Description
Belgium, Second Empire War (1852–1870). GALAND-type revolver with automatic extractor, Model 1868. 12 mm Galand calibre. 6-shot. Serial No. 5898. All metal parts in their original black-bronzed finish, worn in places. Octagonal rifled barrel with front sight, bearing traces of stamps including ‘illegible’ serial numbers on the right-hand side. Sliding barrel and cylinder. Trigger guard with finger rest. Smooth walnut grips and ring-shaped butt cap. Non-functional single and double-action mechanism, not jammed, requires servicing. Barrel interior dusty with good rifling. Complete. 23 cm (barrel 12 cm). (Signs of wear and use, as is). Note: typical weapon of French officers during the Second Empire.
