Description
Belgium, mid-19th century.
LEFAUCHEUX patented pin-fire revolver, manufactured in Liège, in a case, circa 1860–70.
Calibre 7 mm. Serial number illegible (2094?). 6-shot. All metal parts with a white polished finish, engraved with scrolls and arabesques. The frame is stamped ‘E. LEFAUCHEUX INVUR BREVETE’. Open frame. The barrel is marked ‘ELG’ and ‘N’ beneath a crown. Round rifled barrel with front sight. Retractable trigger. Stock plates in burl walnut. Steel rib present. Mechanism in working order in single and double action, with a crisp cocking notch and no play. Complete.
18 cm (barrel 9 cm).
(Signs of wear and age, the locking spring on the loading door does not always engage, in good condition).
It is presented in its wooden cassette case, the interior compartmentalised and lined with purple velvet.
The top of the lid features a brass escutcheon. It closes with a single-point brass lock; the key is missing. A box of nineteen 7 mm pin-fire cartridges is included in the case, along with a small cleaning cloth.
Case dimensions: 22 x 12 x 5 cm.
(Signs of wear and minor cosmetic damage; the cartridge box has been repaired with adhesive tape; in good condition).
