Description
Belgium, Second Empire period (1852–1870). A fine CHAMELOT-DELVIGNE-type pin-cylinder revolver, manufactured in Liège, circa 1860. Calibre approx. 9 mm. Six-shot. Serial No. 11416. All metal parts are white with their original nickel-plated finish, worn in a few small places. Octagonal rifled barrel, fitted with a front sight, marked on the right side panel "CHAMELOT DELVINE INon & Btée". The left side is stamped "PF" beneath a crown within an oval. Open frame, smooth cylinder stamped "ELG" and "V" beneath a crown, with loading door on the left. Retractable trigger. Smooth walnut stock plates and a ring-shaped butt cap. Steel rib present on the left side. Functional single and double-action mechanism with a single cocking notch, crisp and without play. The inside of the barrel is clean with deep rifling. Complete. 22 cm (barrel 11 cm). (Signs of wear and patina, the openwork screw head securing the frame is slightly warped, in good condition). Note: A typical weapon of French officers during the Second Empire.
