Description
France, Third Republic period (1870–1940). Model 1883 cavalry officer’s sabre, privately manufactured by the Henry Company in Châtellerault. Half-rose bronze mount with three branches decorated with foliage, a flanged cap surmounted by a rivet-head dome and a short tail decorated with laurel sprigs, a curved-beak guard decorated in the same style. The main guard branch is stamped with an "L" within a circle twice. Filigree horn grip. Straight white blade with a hollow edge, marked on the back: "Manufacture d'Armes de Châtellerault September 1883 - Entreprise Henry". Natural leather strap present. Nickel-plated steel scabbard, with a suspension ring. (Good condition). 108 cm (Blade 92.5 cm).
