Description
France, Third Republic (1870–1940). Model 1882 infantry officer’s sabre, privately made. Hilt with three secondary steel branches. Brown horn pommel with filigree decoration. Natural leather scabbard present. Blade with mottled grey patina and oxidation, with a fuller, bearing traces of the maker’s mark on the heel. Steel scabbard with a single suspension ring, in period style. 96 cm (Blade 82.5 cm). (Signs of wear and use; the scabbard was previously repainted black. Sold as is).
