Description
France, Third Republic (1870–1940). A rare Model 1882 infantry officer’s sabre, privately manufactured by “Fabrique Française à Paris”. Hilt with three secondary branches in nickel-plated metal. Black horn pommel with filigree decoration. Natural leather scabbard present. Nickel-plated blade with fuller, bearing the maker’s mark on the heel: “Fabrique Française à Paris”. Nickel-plated steel scabbard, with traces of oxidation in places, featuring a suspension ring. 97 cm (blade 83 cm) (Signs of wear and minor handling marks, small chip on the horn pommel, traces of oxidation on the blade heel. In its original condition, never previously in a collection, uncommon maker’s mark).
