Description
France, Third Republic (1870–1940). Non-commissioned officer’s sword, model of 29 October 1905, manufactured by ‘Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal’, without scabbard. Cast brass mountings. Diabolo pommel. Blackened horn tang with filigree brass detailing. Kidney-shaped guard stamped with the general insignia of a crown of intertwined oak and laurel leaves, in riveted copper. Retractable guard of the Manceaux type. Natural leather strap. White blade, stained in places, with double fuller, bearing the maker’s mark “Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal” on the heel and the hallmarks “C” under a star and “G” under a star. 97 cm (blade 81 cm). (Signs of wear and minor accidents of use; in fairly good condition).
