Description
France, Third Republic (1870–1940). A self-defence cane, known as a ‘rifle cane’, made of steel; the barrel was originally black lacquered and the handle chrome-plated, late 19th century. The handle, shaped like a corbin’s beak, houses the mechanism. Calibre approx. 9 mm. Total length approx. 85.5 cm and barrel length approx. 75 cm. (Signs of wear and minor damage, non-functional, oxidised metal, as is).
