Description
France, World War I and the immediate aftermath. Procession banner: "Heart of Jesus – Save France – 1914–1918". Rectangular in shape, made of tricolour silk, assembled from three sewn sections, single-sided. The central white section is decorated with the Sacred Heart in flames and bleeding, bearing the inscription "Heart of Jesus – Save France – 1914–1918". It is edged with gold fringes and trimmings. The banner is attached to a wooden pole painted gold, and topped with a brass tip. 155 x 107 cm. Length of pole with tip: 2.6 m. (Signs of wear and damage; the silk is brittle in places; the tip of the pole is damaged; in fairly good condition).
