Description
France, Third Republic (1870–1940). Model 1882 infantry officer’s sabre, manufactured to regulation by the Châtellerault Arms Factory in September 1916, without scabbard. Four-spoke nickel silver hilt. Handle in filigree-worked brown horn. Blade with a light grey patina, originally with a white polished finish and marked on the pommel: ‘Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault Septembre 1916 - Officier d'Infanterie Mle 1882’. Natural leather guard present. It comes with its regulation black leather wrist strap of the period. In its original condition, never previously in a collection. 98.5 cm (Blade 85 cm). (Signs of wear and tear, damaged filigree. Fairly good condition).
