Mug belonging to reservist Grenadier MELLER, 12th Company, 1st Baden Life Grenadier Regiment, No. 109, Karlsruhe, 1898–1900.
White porcelain richly decorated with polychrome military scenes. Pewter lid topped with a seated soldier and a griffin handle, symbol of the Grand Duchy of Baden. The base of the tankard features a group of soldiers in a tavern, rendered in a see-through effect.
H. 28.5 cm.
(Signs of wear and age. The lid handle was previously reattached; in fairly good condition).
