Description
Kingdom of Baden, Second Reich (1871–1918). Mug belonging to reservist Grenadier MELLER, 12th Company, 1st Baden Life Grenadier Regiment, No. 109, Karlsruhe, 1898–1900. White porcelain richly decorated with polychrome military scenes. Pewter lid topped with a seated soldier and a griffin handle, symbol of the Grand Duchy of Baden. The base of the tankard features a group of soldiers in a tavern, rendered in a see-through effect. H. 28.5 cm. (Signs of wear and age. The lid handle was previously reattached; in fairly good condition).
