Description
Kingdom of Prussia, Second Reich (1871–1918). Model IOD89 sabre (Infanterie Offizier Degen, Model 1889) belonging to a medical officer of the "Kaiser Wilhelm Academy" (Academy of Military Medicine). Gilded brass mountings (remnants), triple-filigree shagreen grip bearing the monogram of Wilhelm II "WR II", guard with re-engraved decoration of the Prussian eagle monogrammed WR II and engraved on the reverse of the guard "Kaiser Wilhelms Akademie" and numbered 29. Leather finger guard present. Natural leather scabbard strap attached at the rear. Beautiful straight nickel-plated blade with two fuller grooves, bearing the manufacturer’s mark and logo on the back: “M. NEUMANN BERLIN HOFLIEFERANT”. Steel scabbard with two suspension rings and a fixed guard, showing signs of oxidation and minor knocks. 100 cm (Blade 84.5 cm). (Signs of wear and tear, previously restored sabre, play between the pommel and the mount, fairly good condition).
