Description
Japan, Meiji period (1868–1912). Wakizashi-style ceremonial sword, circa 1900. The wooden fittings are covered in bone and richly carved with figures. Multi-lobed brass tsuba. Steel blade with a light grey patina and a brass habaki. The wooden scabbard is covered in bone and decorated with a continuous band of figures. 36 cm (Blade 23 cm). (Signs of age and patina; in fairly good condition).
