Colonial helmet belonging to a Free French soldier.
This is an early-production British service helmet, to which the French soldier has attached a standard French colonial helmet badge featuring a brass naval anchor. Cork helmet covered in white cotton canvas. Inner lining in unbleached cotton canvas and brown leather sweatband without a miller’s mark. The edge of the inner lining is lined with green coated canvas with a white cotton piping. Leather chin strap present. Worn.
