Description
Great Britain, Reign of King George V (1910–1936). General officer’s dress cap, personalised, circa 1920–30. Cup made of fine dark blue woollen cloth, with dark blue woollen piping. Band made of fine red woollen cloth with the general officers’ front insignia (crown and lion) embroidered in gold thread on a dark blue background. Visor in black patent leather, embroidered with gold thread featuring a foliage border around the edge and edged with a strip of black patent leather. The underside is lined with green waxed leather. Patent leather chin strap fastened with two small senior officer’s buttons bearing the monogram of George V. Satinette inner lining with gold-coloured hatmaker’s mark “CATER & Co PALL MALL LONDON S.W.”, the lining protected by a mica sheet. Sweatband in very light fawn leather with a name tag on the reverse, partially legible. Complete and worn. It comes with a cap cover in fine white ribbed cotton canvas. (signs of wear and tear, small moth holes on the crown and sweatband; in fairly good condition).
