Description
United States, Second World War. Signal Corps, service-issue "M9 6×30 Binoculars". Manufacturer’s markings: “UNIVERSAL CAMERA CORPS NEW YORK, USA” “1942 W.P.B.”. Serial No. 29036. Clear, graduated lenses. The original suspension strap has been replaced by a khaki cotton cord. They come with their original M17 brown leather case, complete with its suspension strap. The set appears to have been used by a French officer; the inside of the lid bears a handwritten name and rank: ‘Cdt DUBOIS La Rustauderie St AVERTIN’. (Signs of wear and minor handling marks; a mark on the top of the lid has been scraped off and erased. In fairly good condition).
