Commemorative medal of the Mexican campaign from the reign of Napoleon III, a round, double-sided silver medallion, a rare variant engraved by ‘SACRISTAIN. F.’. The obverse features a profile of the Emperor with a laurel wreath, facing anti-clockwise, and the reverse lists the battles: ‘CUMBRES -CERRO BORREGO-SAN LORENZO-PUEBLA-MEXICO’, surrounded by the text ‘EXPEDITION TO MEXICO 1862–1863’. With a white ribbon bearing the coat of arms of Mexico (eagle and serpent on a red and green St Andrew’s cross).
