A carved cast-iron mantelpiece plaque. It depicts two crouching lions holding shields; on one is a fleur-de-lis, a crescent moon and two stars on a blue background; on the other is a swan with two bundles. The whole is surmounted by a helmet with decorative lambrequins. Undoubtedly a plaque commemorating the union of two families.
Probably made in eastern France, late 17th – early 18th century.
