A pair of gilded bronze andirons decorated with covered Medici vases adorned with garlands of acanthus leaves; the handles are shaped as ram’s heads, and the fretwork is in the shape of a pomegranate. The allegories of War and Peace are reclining; one leans on a shield and holds a hammer, whilst the other holds two doves. Louis XVI style – 19th century. Height: 35 cm – Width: 30 cm – Depth: 9.5 cm Wear to the patina; small flowers missing from one of the bases; missing their metal fittings.
