Description
Based on the design by Jean-Henri RIESENER, created in 1783 for Queen Marie-Antoinette. A secretary desk in rosewood and veneer, decorated with rich marquetry depicting birds and foliage, and gilded bronze fittings; the upper section opens via a drop-down lid revealing nine drawers inlaid with small flowers and two niches, whilst the lower section features two hinged doors. One drawer around the middle. White marble top. Louis XVI style. Height: 154 cm – Width: 124 cm – Depth: 56 cm The original writing desk is now housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
