A pair of chiselled bronze candlesticks, gilded and patinated. The vase-shaped shaft, in the ancient style, is adorned with lion’s muzzles holding the light and rests on a Janus-style capital in the form of an Egyptian woman’s bust, the shaft is sheathed and terminates in human feet, decorated with applied caduceus and stylised spears; the square-sectioned base is adorned with winged figures flanked by snakes.
