Description
A substantial Scriban sideboard with a curved front and sides in burl and ivory veneer. The upper section, centred by a volute, opens via two doors to reveal a cabinet with a central door flanked by fourteen small drawers, leading to three shelves and a small drawer. The middle section opens via a drop-down panel forming a writing desk, resting on two retractable supports and revealing two small glass-panelled doors flanked by two secret compartments and six small drawers. The lower section forms a chest of drawers with two drawers in two rows, the lower crossbar being scalloped. The whole piece rests on four curved legs. Rich allegorical decoration featuring female figures, allegories and mythological deities. Ornamentation of chiselled and gilded bronze, including lock plates, foliage-decorated pull handles, lamp bases and corner motifs.
