A lady’s sewing box made of wood, painted in a black lacquer finish and decorated with views of Oxford’s monuments (University College / Martyr’s Memorial / Magdalen College). It opens via two hinged panels at the front, revealing four stacked drawers, with the bottom drawer serving as a writing surface. The lid opens via a flap to reveal a compartmentalised sewing box; the top section also opens via a flap to reveal a compartment lined with silk.
