Description
Comtoise clock with a violin-shaped wooden case. The painted decoration features ears of wheat on the case and a medallion adorned with a bunch of grapes on the base. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals is signed ‘Carteret-Parisot à Ligny’ and features repoussé brass decoration with a floral motif. The large lyre-shaped pendulum, also in repoussé brass, is centred with a female profile. Dimensions: 234 x 50 x 20.5 cm. Condition: signs of wear, flaking paint and cracks in the wood. Sold with its two weights and winding key; mechanism untested; feet worn asymmetrically and clock out of balance.
