Voluntary lot
Description
A lidded porcelain vase with an enamelled finish, it features a vibrant polychrome design in the ‘Famille Rose’ style, characteristic of 20th-century decorative art. The body is adorned with a lively and auspicious scene depicting an adult figure dressed in a loose-fitting red robe with a gilded trim, playing with young boys carrying various objects (including a lotus flower), all set against the backdrop of a garden enclosed by a balustrade. The whole is framed by pastel-coloured friezes at the base and on the lid, the latter being surmounted by a red fretel in the shape of a button. An apocryphal red seal mark (here in the style of the Tongzhi imperial marks) appears beneath the base. The piece is mounted on a circular, carved and openwork wooden plinth.
Dimensions: H. 33 cm, D. 19.5 cm (excluding plinth)
Condition: Appears to be in good overall condition. Traces of scuffing beneath the foot and normal signs of wear on the plinth.
