Description
A collection of 156 breast badges, known as ‘pucelles’, and corps badges made of brass-plated, silver-plated and enamelled metal. The collection brings together a wide variety of municipal and regional designs, featuring numerous variations of shields and coats of arms. Sets dedicated to the fire stations in Saint-Herblain, Saint-Martin-d’Hères and Saint-Égrève. Also included is a fine badge featuring black axes, manufactured by Arthus-Bertrand for the Saint-Étienne-de-Montluc fire station. The collection comprises prints from historic and renowned firms such as Drago, Arthus-Bertrand, Delsart and France Sélection. Overall in good condition, with normal signs of wear and tear. Provenance: The Albert Giraud Collection, considered to be the largest collection of fire brigade badges in France (formerly housed in the museum at Saint-Vincent-sur-Graon).
