Description
A set of 104 breast badges, known as ‘pucelles’, made of brass-plated, silver-plated and enamelled metal. The lot is notable for the inclusion of vintage pieces from the 1950s produced by Drago, as well as high-quality reproductions by Arthus-Bertrand. It notably includes a fine series tracing the evolution of the badges from the Saint-Nazaire fire station, as well as notable examples from Saint-Tropez. Overall in good condition, with signs of normal wear and tear and slight chipping of the enamel on a few older pieces. Many of the badges are glued to their backing. Provenance: The Albert Giraud Collection, considered to be the largest collection of fire brigade badges in France (formerly housed in the museum at Saint-Vincent-sur-Graon).
