Description
A collection of 153 breast badges, known as ‘pucelles’, made of brass-plated, silver-plated and enamelled metal. The lot features high-quality pieces from the renowned Ballard and Arthus-Bertrand workshops. It includes old regional pieces, including badges from the commune of Segré, as well as a very fine historical series tracing the evolution of the ‘pucelles’ from the Saint-Brevin fire station. Overall in good condition, with signs of normal wear and tear. Many of the badges are glued to their backing. Provenance: The Albert Giraud Collection, considered to be the largest collection of fire brigade insignia in France (formerly housed in the museum at Saint-Vincent-sur-Graon).
