Description
A collection of 138 breast badges, known as ‘pucelles’, made of brass-plated, silver-plated and enamelled metal. The lot comprises several geographical series, produced by the manufacturers Drago, Arthus Bertrand and Ballard. It notably includes a very fine set of badges for the city of Toulon, manufactured by Drago. There is also a fine set for the city of Strasbourg, as well as a fine set from the Valence fire station. The overall condition is good, showing normal signs of wear and tear. Many of the badges are glued to their backing. Provenance: The Albert Giraud Collection, considered to be the largest collection of fire brigade badges in France (formerly housed in the museum at Saint-Vincent-sur-Graon).
