Description
A set of 172 breast badges, known as ‘pucelles’, made of brass-plated, silver-plated and enamelled metal. This lot includes a fine series from the Var department, featuring the coats of arms of its various municipalities. It also includes some remarkable pieces, including an old badge from the municipality of Étretat. Overall in good condition, with normal signs of wear and tear. Many of the badges are glued to their backing. Provenance: The Albert Giraud Collection, considered to be the largest collection of fire brigade badges in France (formerly housed in the museum at Saint-Vincent-sur-Graon).
