Voluntary lot
Description
A set of 166 breast badges, known as ‘pucelles’, made of brass-plated, silver-plated and enamelled metal. This lot features an interesting commemorative series produced to mark the federation’s annual national congresses. It comprises high-quality pieces, notably manufactured by Arthus-Bertrand. The set includes a fine example from Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, as well as older pieces, notably for the towns of Baugé and L’Isle-Adam. Overall condition: good, with normal signs of wear and tear. Many badges are glued to their backing.
Provenance: The Albert Giraud Collection, considered to be the largest collection of fire brigade badges in France (formerly housed in the museum at Saint-Vincent-sur-Graon).
