Description
A set of 166 breast badges, known as ‘pucelles’, made of brass-plated, silver-plated and enamelled metal, comprising high-quality prints signed by Arthus-Bertrand. This themed lot stands out as a collection dedicated to in-house fire brigades and security services at industrial or commercial sites (car factories such as Renault or Citroën, and Galeries Lafayette). It also includes badges from the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). A fine selection of old municipal and institutional badges (Palace of Versailles) rounds off this collection. Overall in good condition, with normal signs of wear and tear. Many badges are glued to their backing. Provenance: The Albert Giraud Collection, considered to be the largest collection of fire service badges in France (formerly housed in the museum at Saint-Vincent-sur-Graon).
