Description
Set of two officer’s belt plates. Cast bronze pieces comprising:
An officer’s belt plate, dating from the Old Monarchy period. This rectangular plate with rounded edges features an oval medallion in relief, decorated with a foliage trophy surrounded by flowering branches. It is complete with its fastening mechanism on the reverse, consisting of a hook and a bar with two fixed prongs. Dimensions: 6.2 x 11.5 cm (including curvature).
This aide-de-camp’s officer’s badge, dating from the Consulate and First Empire periods, is rectangular in shape. Its centre is adorned with a relief design depicting a plumed helmet resting on a sword and a bundle of flags, all set against a background of oak and laurel branches. The whole is framed by a border of plain, raised fillets. Dimensions: 6.5 x 8.5 cm.
Condition: signs of wear, lovely patina of age.
