Light cavalry officer’s sabre, with a hilt known as the ‘à la Chasseur’ style. Directoire–Consulate period.
Brass hilt with a smooth crossguard and shuttle-shaped lugs. Tang covered in filigree leather. Curved blade, engraved near the hilt with oriental motifs (moon, sun, stars) and a musical instrument as a trophy. Plain brass scabbard with two loop fastenings.
Total length: 95 cm (93 cm without scabbard).
Condition: signs of wear, pitted blade, slight knocks to the scabbard.
