Description
Saber of a mounted hunter of the Imperial Guard (or of a light cavalry officer). Consulate – First Empire period.
Brass hilt with a smooth single branch and shuttle-shaped guard, stamped with the manufacturer’s mark ‘VERSAILLES’ and the hallmarks ‘JC’ and ‘B’. The tang is covered with filigree leather. Curved blade with hollow edges. Brass scabbard with black leather slits, fitted with two loop fastenings.
Total length: 104 cm (101 cm without scabbard).
Condition: signs of wear, oxidation on the blade and tip; the leather on the straps is worn and cracked.
