Illustrated with scenes and portraits drawn from the author’s sketches. Paris, D. Giraud and J. Dagneau, 1850. 8vo, 144 pp. 6 plates, including the frontispiece. A few very faint stains in the margins in places. Bound together with: - A Reply to the two pamphlets: *Les Conspirateurs* and *Naissance de la République* by Chenu and Delahodde, based on the letters, documents and papers provided and published by Caussidière, former Prefect of Police, Lubati, former staff officer of the Republican Guard, and other former civil servants [...] with Curious Revelations on the Life of Delahodde by Citizen Jules MIOT. Paris, Dépôt central, 1850. 88 pp. - Reply to Chenu and his accomplices. No place, no date. 22 pp. Havana-coloured half-chagrin, ribbed spine (contemporary binding). Ex-libris stamp from the library of Léon Laurent Pichat (1823–1886), poet, Republican politician and journalist, to whom we owe the first publication (in instalments, censored) of *Madame Bovary* in his *Revue de Paris*.
