Description
GROZELIER (Nicolas).
New Fables, divided into six books, and dedicated to His Grace the Duke of Burgundy. Paris, Desaint & Saillant, 1760. Small 12mo, viii–291 pp. Red morocco, smooth spine with fleur-de-lis decoration, gilt title, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, gilt fleur-de-lis in the spandrels, gilt coat of arms in the centre of the covers (restored original binding). Slight marks around the coat of arms, some restoration work including the title label, possibly re-boxed.
A copy bearing the coat of arms (added??) of Adélaïde of France (1732–1800). The volumes that belonged to the Mesdames de France, daughters of Louis XV and Marie Leczinska, are distinguished solely by the colour of the morocco leather on which their coats of arms are embossed. Madame Adélaïde had hers bound in red morocco, Madame Victoire in green morocco, and Madame Sophie in lemon-coloured morocco. Ex-libris P. Grandsire.
