Amsterdam, no publisher, 1762. 2 volumes, small 8vo, xiv-[2]-268-[2] pp., [2]-viii-[2]-306-[3] pp. Marbled calfskin, smooth, decorated spines, green and brown title labels, red volume number labels, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, red edges (contemporary binding). Worn joints, some repairs. First attempt at the famous ‘Fermiers Généraux’ edition (without the separate set of engravings). It features the same layout but the format is slightly smaller and the headpieces are wood-engraved here. “This edition is very rare”, according to Cohen. (Cohen 568; Rochambeau p. 524 no. 78.)
