Description
[ARMSTRONG (D.)]. The Games of Calliope, or a collection of English, Italian, German and Spanish poems, in two, three and four cantos. London and Paris, Ruault, 1776. Small 8vo, illustrated with 4 plates engraved by Gibelin and cut by Marchand. Contains *Économie de l’Amour*, adapted from the English by D. Armstrong; *L’Hermitte*, or *Amintor and Théodora*, translated from the English by Mallet; *L’Amour accusé*, translated from the German by M. Wiéland. The second part was never published. Garnet morocco, smooth spine richly decorated, title page in green morocco, framed with gilt fillets and small fleurons in the spandrels on the covers, gilt edges (contemporary binding). Coats of arms on the covers cited as unidentified by O.H.R. Restored marginal water damage on a few leaves. A very fine copy.
