Discours des Misères de ce Temps. Paris, Le Fuseau Chargé de Laine, 1930. In-4, black morocco with rich decoration of lozenges composed of alternating gilt fillets, enlivened on the covers by raised scrolls; title in gilt letters on the spine within the reserves; gilt edges on endpapers; cherry calf lining and endpapers, illustrated cover and spine preserved, in a half-black morocco slipcase with flaps and a box with raised edges (P. L. Martin).
The illustrations, engraved on copper by Albert Decaris, comprise the cover, the frontispiece, the title vignette, 13 headpieces, 12 initials, 18 insert illustrations and 9 end-piece illustrations.
Limited edition of 359 copies; no. VII of the 50 copies on Imperial Japan paper, enhanced with:
- 10 exquisite full-page ORIGINAL WASHES, signed by Decaris,
- a series of engravings on Chinese paper, numbered 40/54,
- the prospectus for the edition of Maurice Barrès’s *Du Sang, de la Volupté et de la Mort*, illustrated by Decaris (published by Éditions du Bois sacré, Paris).
A superb copy with a very fine print, in a sublime kinetic binding by Pierre-Lucien MARTIN.
