A General History of Medicinal Substances, dealing with plants, animals and minerals [...] Paris, Loyson & Pillon and Ducastin, 1694. 3 parts in one folio volume of [6] folios, 16 pp. and one engraved plate outside the text (“Very curious observations on various plants, animals, minerals and other subjects, which I forgot to include in the first edition, or which I have since discovered”), 304 pp. (+ 16 interleaved folios numbered from 233 i to xxxii 264); 108 pp.; 116 pp.; [19] folios (table of contents). Havana-coloured sheepskin, decorated ribbed spine (contemporary binding). Head and foot caps torn off, heavy wear to the leather, a few areas of leather missing from the edges and corners, binding worn.
First edition. The illustrations consist of a frontispiece portrait of the author by Leclerc, a separate plate and 400 copper-engraved vignettes within the text.
