A substantial large quarto volume; illustrated with a frontispiece, 21 large vignettes (one at the head of each chapter) and numerous tailpieces and initials, all in colour. The usual brown halftones opposite the engravings. A print run of 220 numbered copies on Lana vellum, one of the 25 containing a black-and-white suite of the illustrations on China paper.
Cream morocco binding signed ‘CRETTÉ succ. by Marius MICHEL, beautiful geometric decoration with mosaic-patterned beige, red and black panels forming a wide frieze framing a set of gilded rays in the central section, gilt edges, with a half-red morocco slipcase and a sheathed case.
