Description
[RAMOND de CARBONNIÈRES (Louis François Elisabeth), Baron]
A collection of works: * GIRDLESTONE (Cuthbert): Poetry, Politics, the Pyrenees. Louis-François Ramond (1755–1827). His life, his literary and political work. Paris, Minard, 1968 (8vo, publisher’s green cover).
* BERALDI (Henri): The History of Pyreneanism. Ramond de Carbonnières. The Cardinal de Rohan – Cagliostro. Paris, 1919 (8vo, weak stitching).
* BOYER (M. J.): Ramond and Auvergne. Clermont-Ferrand, Vissouze, 1930 (8vo, paperback, containing an autograph letter signed by the author).
Thesis submitted to the Faculty of Toulouse. Rare. It is the scientist and botanist during his time in Auvergne who are studied here. Whereas Beraldi and Abbé Cregut had cast doubt on Ramond’s scientific merit, Mademoiselle BOYER (soon to be Mrs PRAT, a pharmacist in Ambert, Auvergne) highlights the significance of the observations and the botanical skills of the Prefect of Puy-de-Dôme.
* RAMOND de CARBONNIÈRES (Louis François Elisabeth), Baron: Observations on the Alps. 1777. Included in the Translation of COXE’s Letters on Switzerland (1781). Toulouse, Central Pyrenees Section of the Alpine Club, 1927 (1929 on the cover) (8vo, paperback, full margins, uncut).
A collection of RAMOND’s observations on the Alps, arranged in chronological order. These fragments “constitute a seminal work”, according to BERALDI, the editor of this volume.
