BARTHOU (Louis) – [BIBLIOPHILIA] The Library of Mr Louis Barthou. Paris, Blaizot, 1935. 4 volumes in-4 (the 5th volume, containing the Table of Contents and auction prices, is appended at the end of Volume IV). ½ brown shagreen, gilt titles on ribbed spines. Very complete. This fine catalogue was compiled by the bookseller Blaizot and his son. Louis Barthou, a statesman born in Oloron and assassinated in Marseille in 1934, was a discerning bibliophile. Not a regionalist, let alone a specialist in the Pyrenees, it was in literature—spanning all eras—that he exercised his talents as a book hunter, with a marked preference for the Romantics and his contemporaries.
