Description
FROSSARD (Émilien Benoît Daniel), pastor
4 sheets of pen-and-ink lithographs printed in three colours, intended to be mounted by the pastor in the unique works he produced himself on request. We are familiar with this model from the rare ‘Bagnères’ album, which we have had the honour of presenting twice at public auction in the past.
Of particular note is the large plate depicting Gavarnie.
It was not until long after the publication of the *Tableau Pittoresque*, in the 1860s, that the pastor—ever in search of economical reproduction methods—discovered this three-plate lithographic process, which, when superimposed, gives the impression of five or six colours.
