Caillot-Duval is the collective pseudonym used by Pierre-Marie-Louis de Boisgelin de Kerdu and Alphonse-Toussaint-Joseph-André-Marie-Marseille de Fortia de Piles to sign the epistolary hoaxes they wrote and sent from 1784 onwards, before publishing them along with the replies in 1795, under the title *Philosophical Correspondence of Caillot-Duval (stationed at Nancy)*, compiled from the original documents and published by a society of Lorrain writers; the text and review were undoubtedly written by Grimod de La Reynière.
