First edition of *The Internationale* and this collection of revolutionary songs, published by Eugène Pottier’s former colleagues at the Paris Commune, with a preface by Henri Rochefort and reviews by Gustave Nadaud and Jules Vallès.
‘Pottier wrote *L’Internationale* in June 1871, the month following the collapse of the Commune and the Bloody Week, whilst he was being hunted down in Paris’ (Maitron). It was in 1888 that Pierre Degeyter of Lille, at the request of Gustave Delory, mayor of Lille, composed the music for it. Le Quillec, 2023; Del Bo 70.
