[TRAVEL] CHALLE, Robert Journal of a voyage to the East Indies by a squadron of six ships commanded by Mr Du Quesne, from 24 February 1690 to 20 August 1691, on the orders of the East India Company. A work filled with curious observations on a wide range of subjects, and particularly on navigation and the politics of various peoples and societies. The Hague, 1721. 3 volumes in-12°. Full contemporary binding in fawn sheepskin. Ribbed spine, decorated with gilt metalwork and fleurons. Volume I is worn. Some panels are loose. The top panel is missing. 4 unnumbered folios for the title page and the preface – 410 pp./(1)–388 pp./(1)–410 pp. [pp. 191–192 are repeated as part of the continuous text of the Journal, and the pagination jumps without any gaps from page 382 to page 353 and from page 376 to page 405]. The binding of Volume I requires restoration.
