Practical architecture covering the general and specific construction of buildings, the details, measurements and estimates for each part, namely masonry, carpentry, roofing, joinery, metalwork and glazing.... with an explanation and commentary on the thirty-six articles of the Paris Customary Law concerning the title to easements and relations pertaining to buildings, and on the Ordinance of 1673. Paris. J-T Herissant, 1755. Small 8vo. Full contemporary marbled sheepskin binding. Ribbed spine, decorated with gilt metal fittings. XVI pp., 512 pages. Frontispiece, 1 folding plate and 12 plates outside the text. Numerous woodcuts within the text. A leading figure of French Classicism, Pierre Bullet (1639–1716) designed the arch at the Porte Saint-Martin (1674), several austere-looking townhouses (the Hôtel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau, the Hôtel Crozat) and the Quai Le Peletier. He is also the author of a famous map of Paris (1677).
