DEMAISON (André) – GUYOT (Georges Lucien). The Book of Beasts Known as Wild. Paris: Librairie de la Revue française, [1930]. — In-8, 197 x 142: frontispiece, (6 leaves, the first 3 blank), 204 pp., (6 leaves, the last 3 blank), 10 plates, printed cover. Dark green morocco, covers decorated with a symmetrical design depicting a silver antelope within a black morocco square frame, symbolising a pair of bookends; plain spine adorned with a wide, long band in palladium, framed by dark green morocco on the inside, decorated with four pieces of dark grey morocco at the corners, joined together by three gilt fillets, linings and endpapers of green moiré silk, double endpapers, gilt headband, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, slipcase (J. Van West). A deluxe edition, the first illustrated edition, featuring 11 original out-of-text etchings by the animal painter and sculptor Georges Lucien GUYOT (1885–1973). One of the first 10 copies printed on Imperial Japanese paper (no. 6). A precious, unique copy, enriched with 17 original watercolour drawings by Guyot, as attested by the artist himself on the title page: ‘Adorned with eleven etchings by Guyot and seventeen watercolour drawings. Guyot 1932.’ Beautiful mosaic binding by the Belgian bookbinder Jules-Karl Van West. Spine worn.
